All level of K9 Nose Work® enthusiast, competitor and instructors.

Mother Nature gave dogs an intricate system empowering their sense of smell making them geniuses at sorting out and navigating the scent environment. They can gather information and solve complex scent problems that humans are unequipped to do. We’ll address how the K9NW handler can become the best partner possible in addition to developing his or her dog’s potential?

Join Jill Marie O’Brien for an interactive day of lecture, guided discussion, breakout sessions and observing working dogs to gain a better understanding of canine olfaction and the physical demands of searching on the canine teammate. Take home tools to enhance every training opportunity and leave with a deeper appreciation of your dog’s genius thanks to the Genius of Mother Nature.

Learning Objective:

  • Clear understanding of how the basics of canine olfaction makes dogs such remarkable search machine
  • Explore the effects the scent picture has on the dog’s performance
  • Discussion on how odor moves in the search environment
  • The learner will gain insights into setting up training scenarios to best maximize each learning and training session with their canine partner

The Genius of Mother Nature is designed to have students leave with a better understanding of the search environment as a whole and to feel more confident in their role as “team manager”. In addition, we want attendees to take away tools that enhance each training opportunity by taking into account every aspect in play.
