Good Behaviour for a good Scentsation – Working Position

Good Behaviour for a good Scentsation

10 working positions – note 1 registration per person

dogs must be on birch and anise

This is a working seminar incorporating lecture and hands-on exercises with dogs.

Target Audience: This day is for all K9 Nose Work® enthusiasts and instructors regardless of level of experience. (Dogs must be on odor to participate)

Working spots requirements: Ideally, participating dogs should be working on Birch/Anise/Clove

Overview:
This working seminar will look at various aspects of the dog’s behavior during the search including the dog’s “emotional” state, how they shift and change from one search to another and within each individual search.

Throughout the day we will strive to build a better understanding of how humans alter the “emotional” state of the dog and how that might affect behavior and performance, problem solving ability and stress coping ability.

Exercises will address inaccessible hides, multiple hide placements, converging odor and other forms of problem solving both for the human and the dog.

Objective:
● To increase handler ability to respond in real time to communication from the dog to facilitate successful searching
● To increase handler awareness about the effect they have on the search dog in action and build strong teams by increasing mutual trust and understanding
